This book was my first experience of reading about feminism. I loved it. If you are a human being of any gender you should definitely read this book. It helped me understand the destructive nature of patriarchy, and how it affects the world.

This particular book focuses on class, and how we cannot talk about sexism and racism without recognizing class as a huge factor in those forms of oppression. She encourages us to live in solidarity with the poor and working class. This is the only hope for transformation in our world.
God does not have a penis, so God is not a man or a he. Yet, this is common language for us to use. This is the effect of thousands of years of male domination of women. If God is a man, then women are just not quite as important as men. This idea while quite common is awful because it creates hierarchy amongst the children of God. This book shows how the church has used violence and oppression to further its ideals.
